Monica Thomas Billen (2015) , a PhD candidate at the University of Tennessee has just completed her dissertation on teacher self-assessments. She proposes using Instagram to compile a photo journal for reflective practice. Using smart phones, teachers took photos during their day and then provided reflection on the themes that emerged. The result was a yearlong journalistic account of teacher experience reflected in simple photos.
